Braun Silk Epil 9- 941e review

Product name: Braun Silk Epil 9-941e

Tired of shaving every day or several times per week? Purchasing an epilator is a decision you probably will not regret. An epliator pulls hair from the roots. It will leave you with smooth, stubble free skin for up to 4 weeks! Hair will grow back lighter and less noticeable.Epilation is effective for all hair types. The Braun Silk epil 9 is one of the most popular epilators available.

Product overview

The Braun silk epil 9 comes with the following :

  • Silk 9 epilator
  • Skin contact cap
  • Charging cord
  • A blue exfoliation brush for large areas
  • A mauve exfoliation brush for smaller or more sensitive areas.
  • A storage pouch
  • A cleaning brush

This is a unique product because it can be used for exfoliation and epilation. Exfoliating skin prior to epilation is necessary to prevent irritation and ingrown hairs. It is convenient to be able to switch the attachments and be able to do both with 1 device. The attachment brushes vibrate making them much more effective at removing dead skin cells than manual exfoliation methods.

How to use it

1. The first thing you will need to do is charge you epilator. Attach the cord to the bottom of the epilator and plug it in. A flashing green light means your epilator is charging. The light will turn solid green when it is fully charged. It will take approx 1 hour to fully charge. The charge will last approx 40 min while using the epilator.

2. Attach the exfoliation brush and clean the area you plan to remove hair.

3. Remove the brush and apply the tweezer attachment and cap

4. There are 2 speeds controlled by a ring on the front of the epilator. You set the speed by pressing the center of the white ring while rotating the outside purple ring to the desired speed.  Clock wise turns it on. Counter clockwise turns it off

5. Hold the epilator at 90 degrees

6. Hold skin tight with your other hand

7. Slowly glide the head of the epilator in the direction of the hair growth. Quick movements will break the hair shaft instead of pulling it from the roots.

8. Repeat until all hair is removed.

9. Turn off epilator, use the cleaning brush and rinse after each use. Remove the tweezer and attachment cap and air dry.

Pros

  • This epilator can remove hair as short as 0.5 mm. That is 4x shorter than waxing, There is no waiting period for the hair to grow out.
  • The head is 40% wider than other Braun eplilators. This means that more hair will be removed with 1 swipe. This device did a great job of removing hair with minimal swipes compared to other models.
  • It can be used wet or dry. Using it in the bathtub or shower will make epilation less painful.
  • It is cordless and can be used anywhere.
  • It can be used on all body parts including your face.
  • It comes with attachable exfoliation brushes.

Cons

  • This will hurt if you are not used to epilation or waxing. The pain will go away after you have been doing this for a while.
  • The noise. This epilator is very loud compared to other epilators I have used in the past.
  • The price. This is an expensive device. There are less expensive epilators on the market. The cheaper models do not come with all the attachments, do not work as quickly and can’t be used under water. Take in consideration that you will not be spending money every week on other hair removal products.

Final Thoughts

Overall this is a great product if you are willing to spend the money. Braun has made several improvements compared to the Silk Epil 7 series. The exfoliation system is an especially nice feature. There are other Silk Epil 9 series available. This review if for the Braun Silk Epil 9-941e. The differences between the packages is the number of accessories and attachments it comes with. Some packages come with a shaver attachment, bikini trimmer, charging stand etc. The epilator itself is the same in all the Braun Epil Silk 9 series. All variations can be found for the best price here. Browse the site and decide which package is right for you.

Hair removal is a topic that is often a topic of conversation among women because in the market there are many products available for all different brands and prices. I have spent by the machine shaving, creams, wax, and yet none of them has filled my expectations 100%. This product is great however the price is a little high, but I think that could work me fine. I wanted to ask you compared with the hair removal laser as effective is product.

The results of the epilator will be similar to waxing. The major difference is that waxing requires the hair to be 1/4-1/8 inch long  so there are several days in between sessions where you will have to live with being hairy while it grows out. With this epilator the hair only has to be 0.5 mm so there really is no waiting period for the hair to be long enough.  An epilator will last for years so you wont be continuously spending money on hair removal products.

Laser hair removal will last much longer. It will initially take up to 3 months of treatments to go through the entire hair growth cycle. After that you will you will only have to do it 2-3 times per year. Not everyone can use the laser. It works best on light skin with dark hair. If your skin is to dark or your hair is to light it wont work at all.

This seems to be a very nice product. Actually I have heard about epilators before from my sister. She said it is way better than shaving because shaving is supposed to make new hair come out “rougher” and “tougher”. Using the epilator literally pulls out the hair starting at its roots. I told my wife about it, and she was pretty scared that it would hurt. She still wants to try it though. What is interesing about your epilator is that it is an exfoliator at the same time. If we bought it, can we use it just for exfoliating? I mean on the face of course, get rid of some of that dead skin. Another question is, does exfoliation causes redness after you finish? I understand that taking a shower first helps a little, but does it still cause redness? I am sure my wife would be okay with it if the redness goes aways quickly.

    1. admin says:

The brushes are separate attachment so yes you can definitely just use it for exfoliating. Most redness caused by exfoliation is caused by doing to often . It only needs to be done a couple times per week.Using a moisturizer after exfoliation and epilation will also help. There are some numbing creams you can buy that are used prior to epilation to help with the pain and reduce redness. I think she will be happy with this product once she gets used to using it.

I am a very hairy woman. I don’t have pcos. Im just a hairy woman.

I don’t shave everywhere but I have my areas on my body where I prefer to be hairless or have less hair.

This is sometimes a challenge to find products that aren’t to expensive and won’t give me a bill.

I never heard of a epilator before. I currently get electrolysis on my chin. I simply want the hair to stop growing in that area specifically.

I’ve used the No No hair removal device and it worked it just became expensive replacing the parts such as the blades, buffers, cream etc..

Is the Braun Silk epil 9 the same as the NO NO?

    1. admin says:

      Hi Jamie,

The Braun Silk epil 9 is a different hair removal method than the NO NO.  It is rechargeable and will last for several years. You wont have any replacement parts or batteries for the life of the device.

  4. Marty says:

I have heard a lot about this Braun epilator. It is supposed to be very good removing very coarse hair which I am cursed with.

After waxing, my hair grows back almost as fast as my husband’s facial hair.

So, I decided that if I am going to have to endure pain anyway, I should look for a good epilator to use instead of the waxing regime.

You say that this Braun epilator can keep my legs smooth for up to 4 weeks. I say, that if this epilator can even keep my legs smooth for a week or two before I have to use it again, I will be ecstatic!

      Hi Marty,

I  feel your pain and understand what you are going through. The epilator is defiantly worth trying. I think that you will like it.

I’ve used the Braun silk epil for a while and I know that it sounds a little bit weird that a guy has used this product which is obviously meant for women, but it’s AWESOME!!

It’s pretty wide and the exfoliation brushes are definitely a plus!! Mine also had a hair shortener apparatus which has come in quite handy. And the conventional head cuts the hair pretty short. I advise it.

      Hi,

Thank you for the endorsement. I agree that this is an awesome product for both men and women.
